The Garden Report - June
The garden has been mulched and a number of plantings have taken place, we have peas and beans which will be ready to harvest in the next month as well as lots of silver beet. Our fruit trees are also doing particularly well, the orange tree is laden with fruit. The silver beet is of course doing well - when the chooks don't get in and eat it. We have been using lots of silverbeet in our cooking classes as well as the eggs. The chooks are laying about 3 dozen eggs a week so there are plenty for cooking and also plenty to sell to the parents and community.
The herb garden has been completely weeded and cleared of all old plants. The Year 4/5 class has been growing herbs from seed and these are currently outside their room where they can be watered daily. In a few weeks they will be ready to plant out into the garden.
We have also had contractors in the school who have pruned and mulched a number of overhanging branches, the mulch has been added to the garden beds around the school.
